Dreaming of Finger

Seeing a finger in a dream indicates a spouse, child, mother, father, property, animal, possession, and art. Because a spouse, child, and parents are a person's closest relatives. A finger is also one of the most needed parts of the body. Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Seeing a finger in a dream is interpreted in six ways:

a) Child,

b) Sibling,

c) Servant,

d) Friend and companion,

e) Strength,

f) Five daily prayers.

Ibn Sirin (may God have mercy on him) said:

– If someone sees in a dream that the fingers of their right hand are longer than the fingers of the left hand, it indicates doing good deeds, charity, and benevolence; seeing that the fingers are short and the forearm is long indicates generosity, heroism, and strength. Again, Ibn Sirin (may God have mercy on him) stated:

– Seeing the fingers of the right hand in a dream indicates the five daily prayers.

That is to say: The thumb represents the morning prayer, the index finger the noon prayer, the middle finger the afternoon prayer, the ring finger the evening prayer, and the little finger the night prayer. If someone sees their fingers adorned with henna in a dream, it indicates that they will engage in much dhikr (remembrance of God) and many prayers.

Seeing a woman dyeing her fingers with henna in a dream signifies the kindness and good deeds her husband will do for her. If a man sees in a dream that he interlocks his fingers, it signifies kinship, business partnership, and agreement.

Seeing oneself licking their fingers in a dream is interpreted in four ways:

a) Sustenance,

b) Wealth,

c) Benefit,

d) Goodness.

If someone sees in a dream that they interlace their fingers in prayer, this dream indicates following the Sunnah, adhering to noble morals, cleanliness, and marrying off one’s children. Seeing a sick man biting the tips of his fingers in a dream signifies that his life is coming to an end.

Nablusî (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The finger, in terms of craft and work, has a specific year for a person in this world; in terms of enjoining good and forbidding evil, it also has a specific year in the hereafter. A woman who sees in her dream that she puts henna on her hand but it does not hold will not be loved by her husband.

Cabir al-Maghribi said: To see in a dream that the thumb is cut off signifies traveling. Seeing the index finger cut signifies intention for prayer. Seeing the middle finger cut indicates the death of a state leader. Seeing the ring finger cut in a dream is a sign that wealth in hand will be lost. The cutting of the little finger is a sign of the death of a grandchild.

Seeing someone intertwining their fingers in a dream indicates poverty and need, hardship, and difficulties. Seeing oneself pressing fingers together in a dream signifies righteousness, the performance of prayers, and according to one interpretation, the gathering of nephews and nieces.
